Bugatti Bolide: An Exhilarating Glimpse of Power and Precision in Testing
This hypercar model is entering its final testing stages before being delivered to customers in 2024.
After leaked images, Bugatti has officially unveiled the new design of the Bolide supercar for racing. Compared to the concept version introduced in October 2020, the test model features some changes in exterior, interior, and performance.
Bugatti has developed a completely different monocoque carbon fiber frame structure compared to the Chiron. Additionally, the automaker based in Molsheim also had to completely redesign the cooling system, gearbox, and a suspension system that is three times stiffer than the standard…
The car is equipped with dual 7-spoke wheels measuring 18 inches, with high-temperature carbon fiber protective panels. Instead of carbon-ceramic material, the Bolide’s 390 mm Brembo brake discs are crafted from carbon-carbon material to withstand higher temperatures.
The independent quad exhaust system has been replaced by a 3D printed dual titanium exhaust system. The Bolide is equipped with standard Michelin racing tires on LMDh models competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Bugatti has not released actual photos of the Bolide’s cockpit. According to a customer’s feedback, the interior has also been refined with a new steering wheel and dashboard.
The Bugatti Bolide is still equipped with an 8.0L W16 engine, however, its power output has been reduced from 1,850 horsepower on the concept version to 1,600 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque.
The use of super-lightweight materials has also helped optimize the car’s weight to only 1,450 kg. According to the initial design, the car’s aerodynamic structure generates up to 2,600 kg of downforce at a speed of 320 km/h.
The performance specifications of the new version have not yet been announced. In theory, the Bugatti Bolide is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.2 seconds with a top speed of over 501 km/h.
The official Bugatti Bolide version will be delivered to customers in 2024. Only 40 limited edition models will be produced at a price of over $4.7 million.
