Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024 challenges BMW X7 in a competitive race
The flagship SUV has been slightly refined in exterior and interior design according to Mercedes-Benz’s latest design language.
After 4 years since its debut, the third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLS flagship SUV has just been updated by the German automaker in the middle of its life cycle.
The German automaker has introduced 3 variants: the standard GLS with options for gasoline and diesel engines, the high-performance GLS 63, and the ultra-luxury Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600.
Compared to the pre-facelift version, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS has a sharper design, which follows the latest design language of the Stuttgart-based brand in Germany.
For the AMG sport package, the Mercedes-Benz GLS is slightly refined in the design of the radiator grille, which is painted in Silver Shadow silver, the front bumper, and a new-style air intake.
One of the new options in the exterior is the 20-inch lightweight Himalayas Grey alloy wheels.
Similarly to its previous “sibling” models, the GLS has a new taillight cluster with 3 separate compartments, replacing the 2 compartments of the pre-facelift version.
For the 2024 facelift version, the Mercedes-Benz GLS has a standard 7-seater design. Many details have been updated such as the steering wheel, air conditioning vents with Silver Shadow silver rims…
The interior is supplemented with 2 new colors, Catalana Beige and Bahia brown. The option for the piano lacquer wood interior trim with decorative stitching is inherited from the Maybach GLS 600 series.
At the time of its debut, Mercedes-Benz was introduced with 2 gasoline engine versions, the GLS 450 and GLS 580, and 2 diesel engine versions, the GLS 350d and GLS 450d, equipped with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The Off-Road Engineering package option with underbody protection and 30mm ground clearance increase has been more effectively refined by Mercedes-Benz. Customers can also equip the Trailer Manoeuvring Assist option with the ability to tow up to 3.5 tons.
The prices for each version have not been announced. The Mercedes-Benz GLS 2024 will be assembled at the Tuscaloosa plant in the US. The first batch of vehicles will be available at dealerships in the US in September of this year, and in October for the European market.
