New generation Bentley Continental GT launched, nearly 800 horsepower
After the death of the W12 engine, the new Bentley Continental GT will use a hybrid V8 engine with a maximum power of nearly 800 horsepower.
After announcing the end of the W12 engine, Bentley has officially launched the 4th generation Continental GT model. At the time of launch, this grand tourer model was introduced with 2 versions: GT Speed and GTC Speed.
Replacing the W12 engine is a brand new generation of hybrid V8 engine that Bentley has named “Ultra Performance Hybrid” with a maximum power of 782 horsepower, making this GT the most powerful commercial car the brand has ever built.
With this generation, the Bentley Continental GT/GTC possesses a bolder design language, which has been introduced on limited-edition coachbuild models such as the Bentley Bacalar and Bentley Batur.
Seen from the front, the new-generation Bentley Continental GT is no different from a facelifted version of the 3rd generation. The exterior details are made more streamlined, providing a muscular visual effect.
The most prominent feature is the return to the single headlight design with Matrix LED technology and horizontal “eyebrows”, combined with the diamond effect. This structure consists of 120 independent LED bulbs that help darken lighting and safety functions.
The grand tourer model is added with many wheel designs up to 22 inches in size, with steel brake discs. Customers can upgrade the option of Carbon-Silicon-Carbide brake discs with a larger diameter.
The rear of the car is also slightly fine-tuned the bumper and rear air diffuser, LED taillights, exhaust doors… The luggage compartment lid is aerodynamically designed to increase pressure on the road surface without the support of an electrically controlled spoiler.
With the new Continental GT/GTC, Bentley has added a variety of exterior paint options, including Gravity Grey or modern Tourmaline Green.
The interior layout of the new generation Bentley Continental GT is almost no different from the old version. The car still uses a 12.3-inch center screen with the ability to rotate on 3 sides.
The car is also equipped with 20-way electrically adjustable Wellness comfortable seats with the ability to automatically adjust according to the user’s physical condition and temperature, accompanied by decorative packages with different motifs.
Customers can choose from Mulliner parts, the Dark Chrome Specification package or the option of a standard sound system, Bang & Olufsen or Naim.
Meanwhile, the Bentley Continental GTC owns a high-quality Tweed hood with 7 different color options, which can be operated when the car is running at a maximum speed of 48 km/h with 1 close/open cycle within 19 seconds.
The Ultra Performance Hybrid architecture on the new-generation Bentley Continental GT Speed consists of a twin-turbo V8 engine with a 4.0L electric turbocharger, an electric motor located in the gearbox and a 25.9 kWh electric battery pack located at the rear axle.
This V8 engine itself is capable of producing 600 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. The auxiliary electric motor has an efficiency of 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, bringing the total performance of the car to 782 horsepower and 1,000 Nm.
Despite being 192 kg heavier than the previous generation, the luxury coupe is still capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, before reaching a top speed of up to 335 km/h.
Accompanying the Ultra Performance Hybrid mechanism is a dual-clutch 8-speed gearbox, full-time 4-wheel drive system with eLSD anti-slip electronic differential.
Meanwhile, the Bentley Continental GTC Speed convertible version is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 285 km/h.
In pure electric mode, the Bentley Continental GT Speed has a maximum range of 81 km, and up to 859 km when using a gasoline-electric engine combination.
The new generation Bentley Continental GT Speed and Continental GTC Speed will be assembled at the Bentley Dream Factory in Crewe, UK. The detailed price will be announced at the beginning of the third quarter of 2024 when the first cars are delivered.
