Volkswagen ID.2: A positive breakthrough in electric car technology
The Volkswagen ID.2 is an electric B-segment hatchback that will be launched in 2025 with a starting price of 20,000 euros.
Recently, Volkswagen has unveiled the ID.2all Concept, an electric concept car in the ID. series and a preview of the B-segment hatchback Volkswagen ID.2 that will be released in the European market in 2025.
The Volkswagen ID.2all is a 5-door hatchback in the subcompact segment in Europe, equivalent to B-segment hatchbacks in the Vietnamese market. Its dimensions are 4,050 x 1,812 x 1,530 mm (length x width x height) with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm, similar to the Volkswagen Golf or Volkswagen Polo.
The ID.2all is developed on the MEB platform, which the Volkswagen Group is applying to many models such as the Audi Q4 e-tron, Cupra Born, and Skoda Enyaq.
The cabin has a minimalist design, and standard equipment on the Volkswagen ID.2 includes a 10.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen display, both with a raised design.
The three-spoke sport steering wheel integrates function buttons, and the gear lever is a rotating knob. Other amenities include wireless charging tray and interior ambient lighting.
As a mainstream urban car, the Volkswagen ID.2 only has one front-wheel drive electric motor. This electric motor generates 226 horsepower, enabling the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 7 seconds, similar to the high-performance Volkswagen Golf GTI (0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds).
Volkswagen has not announced the battery capacity, but the company says it can fast charge from 10-80% in 20 minutes. When fully charged, the car can travel up to 450 km according to the WLTP standard in Europe.
The Volkswagen ID.2 is expected to be launched in Europe around 2025 with a starting price of 20,000 euros.
