The new-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS crashed in Spain
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS high-performance sports car lost control and plunged off a cliff in Cadiz, Spain.
Driving sports cars with hundreds of horsepower on the street is not an easy task. This process is even more difficult when you have to control these cars on hilly roads, where visibility is much more limited. The owner of this Porsche 911 GT3 RS experienced this valuable lesson when he plunged the car off a cliff in the city of Cadiz, Spain.
According to sources from social networks, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS had an accident while intending to overtake the car in front. Unable to control its strength and traction, the car plunged off the cliff and slid down the slope, before becoming stuck in a ditch. Images from the scene show that the front bumper is severely damaged, and the curtain airbag system and front airbag system have been activated.
The car travels with a convoy of supercars, including a Porsche 911 Cabriolet and a Ferrari 488 GTB. According to the driver of the Ferrari, the condition of the road surface at that location is very bad with many elephant holes and sand. Therefore, this may be the main reason why the car loses grip and rushes off the road when preparing to overtake the car in front.
Currently Porsche’s top high-performance model, the 911 GT3 RS owns a special aerodynamic design package, which inherits technologies from the 911 RSR or 911 GT3 R. The car is equipped with many new features, especially the active aerodynamic spoiler with DRS (Drag Reduction System) technology.
At the heart of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a 4.0L 6-cylinder boxer engine with a maximum power of 525 hp and 470 Nm of torque. The gear ratio is shorter than that of the 911 GT3, along with independent air cooling technology.
Thanks to the above upgrades, the car is capable of accelerating from 0-96 km/h in just 3 seconds and the maximum speed of the car reaches 296 km/h. However, this is not the most powerful 911 model today, behind the 911 Turbo S with a power of 650 horsepower.
Currently, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS 992 generation is being sold by dealers at an average price of about 500,000 USD. In the future, the most powerful version of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS generation 992 will be equipped with mild-hybrid technology, which is taken from the Porsche 963 LMDh racing car.
