Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione supercar of more than 1.8 million USD is back

The world’s only Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione racing car will be present at the Pebble Beach Concours 2024.

The Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione is one of only two production versions of the EB110 racing car, in addition to the EB110S “Le Mans” with the number 34, which competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1994.

Recently, a source said that the Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione will reappear at the Pebble Beach Concours exhibition within the framework of Monterey Car Week 2024.

This Bugatti was transported by air from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Los Angeles (California, USA) in time for this weekend’s event.

The Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione was developed based on the experience it gained at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1994, and was completed in May 1995.

This car also participated in a number of races such as Watkins Glen (June 1995), Sears Point (July 1995) or Suzuka 1000 km (August 1995), but did not achieve many outstanding achievements.

However, in the process of changing the transmission, the car was “loosely confined” at the Campogalliano factory when Bugatti Automobili S.p.A. suddenly went bankrupt in September 1995.

Thanks to the intervention of businessman and driver Gildo Pallanca-Pastor, this Bugatti was able to return to the 24-hour Daytona circuit in 1996.

In preparation for the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans, the car had a serious accident on the qualifying circuit. With no spare parts, Mr. Gildo and the EB110 Sport Competizione missed the race.

On behalf of the Monaco Racing Team, the businessman contacted Bugatti Fallimento to build a new chassis. The car participated in the last race at 2h Dijon in 1996.

In 2016, the car was successfully auctioned at the Artcurial event at a price of 941,680 Euros. If calculated at today’s exchange rates, the value of the Bugatti could be more than $1.84 million.

Since then, the car has often been exhibited at globally famous car events such as La Grande Fete Bugatti in 2019, Retromobile Paris in 2020, Chantilly Art & Elegance in 2022…

In addition to the sports car-style exterior changes, the interior of the Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione has been streamlined and the amenities of the EB110 Super Sport series have been omitted.

Based on the EB 110 Super Sport, the car uses a 3.5L V12 engine block with 4 turbochargers that produce a maximum power of 610 horsepower. The car can reach speeds of up to 351 km/h.

Not only a mechanical masterpiece, the Bugatti EB110 Sport Competizione is also a witness to a challenging period of one of the world’s most famous car manufacturers with only 1 unit in the world.
