Close-up of the last 12 exclusive Rolls-Royce Wraiths
Black Badge Wraith Black Arrow is the ultimate version of the Rolls-Royce Wraith, ending the 10-year lifespan of this luxury coupe model.
Introduced in 2013, the Rolls-Royce Wraith is a luxury coupe model from the United Kingdom, replacing the older Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe, which was introduced in 2008.
To mark the end of this model’s 10-year reign, Rolls-Royce has just introduced the limited edition Black Arrow, developed on the basis of the Black Badge Wraith model.
The car is a tribute to Rolls-Royce’s record speed of 575.335 km/h set by Major George Eyston with the Thunderbolt, also equipped with two Rolls-Royce V12 ‘R’ Series aero engines.
Inspired by the Thunderbolt, the designers used a Bright Yellow color scheme on the front air dam, wheel rims, engine compartment brace, and more.
The Spirit of Ecstasy statue is crafted with a carbon fiber base, accompanied by Bright Yellow decorative patterns and the “Black Arrow” script and Black Badge emblem.
The car features a two-tone paint scheme of Celebration Silver and Black Diamond, accompanied by a “Crystal” effect that accurately simulates the surface of the Bonneville salt flats.
The finishing touch for this bespoke paint scheme is a 12-hour polished paint layer to create a glass-like effect. The process of researching and developing this exterior color took more than 18 months.
The layout of the interior space of the Black Badge Wraith Black Arrow is not much different, but it is meticulously integrated with many details related to the speed record.
For the first time, Rolls-Royce has developed and used a completely new “Club Leather” material in the armrests of the front seats, dashboard, seat cushions, and door carpets.
The leather surface is intentionally crafted with natural signs of aging, paying tribute to the characteristic racing seats that Major George Eyston loved.
The front seat headrest is intricately embroidered with arrow patterns. This detail is also inspired by the arrow pattern on the body of the Thunderbolt, serving the speed measurement process.
The 12 o’clock position of the steering wheel mimics the markings that Major George Eyston’s team drew on the desert surface to accurately orient the car.
The analogue clock mechanism on the Black Badge Wraith Black Arrow dashboard simulates the practicality of the Thunderbolt, accompanied by the record number of 357,497 miles/hour.
As usual, the “Gallery” dashboard decoration area is now engraved with the intricate details of the Rolls-Royce V12 engine.
To achieve the speed record, the Thunderbolt underwent many changes. The shape is the ultimate expression of aerodynamics and stability.
The Black Badge Wraith Black Arrow’s door trim is simulated to mimic the surface of the salt flats, crafted from 320 pieces of Black Wood that have been laser-cut to create a vivid texture.
The Starlight headliner accurately mimics the sky over Utah’s salt flats on September 16, 1938. This detail comprises 2,117 individual fiber optic lights.
In contrast to the front cabin, the rear seats feature black leather with Bright Yellow accents and a “Waterfall” wood veneer situated between the seats that matches the door trim.
The heart of the Black Badge Wraith Black Arrow remains a 6.6L V12 engine that produces 632 horsepower and 870 Nm of torque. The engine cover is etched with a Bright Yellow V12 logo and the words “Final Coupé Collection.”
This engine is paired with an 8-speed ZF 8HP95 automatic transmission. The Rolls-Royce Wraith can accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h in 4.4 seconds before reaching its top speed limit of 250 km/h.
Rolls-Royce limited production to 12 Black Badge Wraith Black Arrow models, and all have already been sold. The automaker did not disclose the price of this special edition.
